Advantages of Going Through Residential Rehab as a Group

group residential rehabTraditional residential rehab centers for substance abuse, alcohol abuse, eating disorders or other addictions accept patients every single day of the week, which literally means people are entering and exiting these programs daily. Each patient is seen as an individual case, separate from others who are undergoing treatment at the same residential rehab center at the same time. Everyone is at a different stage in their recovery throughout their entire experience.

While each individual has a unique set of circumstances that require customized care, most programs have a significant amount of group activities and therapies. People entering and exiting a program on a daily basis leads to disruption, distraction, and often a lack of harmony. It’s simply impossible to present a comprehensive, life-changing program when dealing with this level of interruption and inconsistency. Going to residential rehab is often a once-in-a-lifetime event; nothing should prevent it from being the most transformational experience possible. Imagine meeting someone, developing a relationship with that person, and a week later they leave while a new housemate arrives. The reality of this situation is a choppy and unsettling experience that carries through the program, drastically impacting each participant.

We’ve experienced this and know there’s a better way. That’s why our residential rehab program is group-based by design. Participants enter as a group together and leave together. Going through a 28-day residential rehab program as a group is a novel approach to residential treatment and one you’ll not find anywhere else. At The Clearing, we offer you a small group of like-minded people, carefully screened for their willingness to authentically and competently meld into a cohesive and compelling group. This approach provides self-reinforcing strength; participants contribute to and benefit from the positive dynamic and energy.

At The Clearing, learning is what it’s all about. Using our uninterrupted approach, you’ll be taught skills you’ll use both now and in the future as your life continues to unfold. You’ll progress through a series of workshops and experiences; each day building upon the days before. It’s a fluid and comprehensive approach, thoughtfully and specifically prepared to maximize this unique opportunity in each participant’s life.

Benefits of Residential Rehab as a Group

  • Uninterrupted, cohesive learning experience
  • Program builds progressively
  • More affinity, teamwork, and support
  • Seamless, dynamic learning experience

What if someone can’t wait for the next residential rehab group session to start?

The industry has conditioned people to expect immediate action after making the decision to seek help in a residential rehab center. After all, the person with the condition needs help and there is often an artificial urgency to make an immediate placement. Indeed there are acute situations when people in crisis need immediate help, but this is simply not the case for the vast majority of participants. Most people who are abusing drugs or alcohol have been doing so for many years; a few days or weeks to wait for the right program is worth it and a short wait may offer valuable time to square away one’s life for a 28 day absence. What matters most in this important decision is what approach will be most effective. We believe the group approach, which we’ve pioneered at The Clearing, offers clear advantages vs. traditional residential rehab centers and treatment programs.
